Gooooo Otters!

Last week, we scheduled a "Lawson date night" and took him to see the Evansville Otters! The Otters are a minor league baseball team and they make their home here in Evansville. He has become obsessed with baseball over the past weeks and was so excited to go see the Otters play.

We were happy that Mrs. Mandy came to keep Emmitt as it was too warm for him to be out; each boy received special attention for the night.

It proved to be a fun-filled night... we arrived and found our seats which were directly behind home plate; 2nd row. Cargill sponsors the Otters so they have season tickets with great seats. It was a lot of fun! We enjoyed chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and cheese fries. There's nothing better than ballpark food, but only when you are at the ballpark! :)

Although the Otters lost, it was a winning night for Lawson... he had a great time and so did we!

On a side note, the Evansville Otters play at Bosse Field here in Evansville. The Bosse Field baseball stadium was built in 1915 and is the 3rd oldest ballpark used for professional ball in the United States. It's architecture is beautiful and the atmosphere is exciting.

Although many Americans have never visited Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana, I am guessing that many would recognize the ballpark if they were to visit... Bosse Field Stadium was the setting for the movie, A League of Their Own, filmed in Evansville in 1991! I love this movie and continue to think that it is cool that it was filmed here in Evansville, where we now live! :) The story is that a ring belonging to Madonna was found in the field following the filming... not sure on the validity of the story, but it is the "talk". Pretty cool, huh? We think so. :)
