On May 31, we went along with a few others from our church to visit Memphis' Zoo. It was such a TREAT, and we had so much FUN!!!! I had not visited the Memphis Zoo since I was in high school, and I tell you what... it was such a nice trip! We visited the St. Louis Zoo last summer, and I must say that, in my opinion, Memphis' Zoo is nicer. With that said, STL's Zoo is free, and Memphis' Zoo has an admission fee, so weigh your options, I suppose.
Anyway, I am so glad that we went... here are a "few" of our memories... I took waayyyy too many pictures!!!
The cats...
And the reptiles... I am not a fan of reptiles, however God saw a need for them and included them on the Ark. :) We ended up in the middle of a thunderstorm and "hung out" in the Reptile House for about an hour-in-a-half... not my choice on where to hang out, but hey, when desperate calls, you take what you can get.
All 25 of us were in there with about 10 other visitors, and I must admit, our kids did wonderful!!!
I was shocked at their contentment in one area for such a long period of time.
Emmitt, Lawson, and Reagan... so cute!!
Doesn't Emmitt look so big?!
Katie and Emmitt... she held him most of the day which he loved. I bet her arm was sore the next day!
Reagan adores Lawson, and the feelings are mutual.
The day was such a breeze and enjoyable thanks to the older children taking up with my boys.
I love to watch them making memories with others here in Martin.
I am hopeful for long-term friendships here in our hometown.
Emmitt can now plainly say, "snake... yucky!" :) So cute!!
Handsome Wylie spent the day with us on his birthday!
We took a break for ice cream which included a serenade of "Happy Birthday to you!"
Fun times!
Is this totally cute, or what?!
I couldn't resist when he asked for this $5.00 popsicle... can't you buy like 2 boxes of popsicles for $5.00 at Wal-Mart??? Oh, well, it's about the memories!
He ate almost the entire thing before we had to enter the Reptile House to take cover.
And just so you know, his hair is wet from the mist fans, not sweat; it was a comfortable day!
Loved watching these monkeys!
Emmitt has also mastered "what monkeys say!"
LOVE this one!
And this one, too! He looks so lovable, doesn't he?
Cute!
Oh, the Pandas... I didn't realize how beautiful these bears were.
Their personalities were so evident. I could've watched them for a long time, but the storm was headed our way!
Another fave...
I'm not sure who invented mist fans, but oh, my word, they cause such smiles!!
There was a cultural area that was quite interesting!
Makenna, Ben, Katie, Emmitt, Wylie, Lawson, Reagan, and Cora... missing two other little boys, and one little girl.
=Cora, Reagan, Emmitt, Makenna, and Wylie=
It took a lot of convincing to get my Lawson in there, but it was a cute picture.
This is part of the polar bear exhibit.
More of the cultural area...
One of my favorites of the day.
We watched these bears for more than thirty minutes which seems like a long time, but we couldn't get enough of these entertaining bears.
More reptiles... eeks!
So these birds ranked right up there with the bears... loved this, too!
Isn't this a great picture?!
See that bid on the stick? :) LOVE!!
Isn't she pretty? :)
I couldn't believe how brave the kids were...
And lastly, the polar bears. I wouldn't say this was my favorite. They looked very aggressive, however I'm not very knowledgeable on their demeanor... they were frightening to me.
And that's that!
We missed the Dinosaur Exhibit which truly disappointed our Lawson, so we are headed back with Daddy next Saturday, June 30. Can't wait to make more memories with all of us together... and yes, I will probably bore you with more memories... :)
And lastly, every time we visit a zoo, or something of the sort, I am always amazed that two of each animal were on the ark... is that amazing or what?
Noah's faith is way more amazing, however!
And our youth minister made a comment that I had never thought of... We can only hope that Noah had means of disposing of "natural bodily waste"... at least we pray he did... wouldn't that be terrible?! :)
Have a great weekend!
Today is our NINE YEAR anniversary! More to come about that tonight!
