Independence Day!

What started out as a rainy day finished up quite nicely!

Mr. Richard, Mrs. Jane, and Granny came to be with us for the weekend and we celebrated the 4th of July with them at the Cargill elevator here in Evansville, which also serves as Russ' office. There were approximately 350 people in attendance!

This is an annual event and it was hard to believe that just last year Lawson was six weeks old and slept through the entire evening of fun! The weather was absolutely perfect at 70 degrees, and of course, it was windy with us being on the river and the air was damp given the rain from earlier... a great combination for a girl with natural curly hair! Not really.

The night composed of hamburgers and hotdogs along with the traditional sides and ice cream for dessert. As the night went on and darkness fell, the city of Evansville did a beautiful job with this year's firework show! It was great and we had lots of fun! Lawson was obviously not sleeping this year and our concern with him being afraid of the fire works was not so... he had a great time!

On another note, the 4th of July is another special day for Russ and me. We were engaged on July 4, 2002 in Paducah, Kentucky along the Ohio River... Russ always adds that this day is the day that the United States gained their independence and the day he lost his... my, my, my. : ) Anyway, the funny thing is that we now live on the Ohio River, where we were engaged, and once again are celebrating the 4th on the Ohio now as husband and wife... pretty cool!

It was a fun day and a fun weekend! Thanks be to God for our great country, and for all who are continuing to fight and serve so that we may continue to live with freedom. God bless the USA.
